Rangers have received a major Champions League boost after Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip were confirmed absent for tomorrow’s crunch clash with Liverpool, along with Luis Diaz.

They were already without Arthur Melo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Andy Robertson meaning Jurgen Klopp loses at least seven star players including his two fulcrum fullbacks, and of course, his attack has been severely dented by the loss of Senegalese superstar Sadio Mane who left for Bayern and has been tearing the Bundesliga and UCL up at the Allianz.

All of which means Rangers are playing a borderline fringe Liverpool, with the only main stars left being Van Dijk, Jota and Salah unless you count the misfiring Nunez.

Long story short, horrible form, diabolical injuries, and effectively sold their best and most important player for about the third of the value he’s worth.

It’s definitely there for Rangers on a plate – but Gio has to be a lot lot lot braver than last time in which his men were tepid and insipid to say the least.

Liverpool are more than vulnerable, they’re on the ropes being bludgeoned by pretty much everyone.

If ever there was a better time to get a result against a truly terrible Anfield side, it’s now.

But the match won’t win itself.
