If there was one massive positive today from an otherwise flat win over a hardy Dundee Utd, it was the return to form of Antonio Colak.

The Croatian’s record for the season is absolutely remarkable, and while he went three matches without scoring against Celtic, Ajax and Napoli, that he has 9 in 13 for the season plus one assist is a truly outstanding return for a striker who only cost £3M.

Colak is deadly – give him a quality chance and 8 times out of 10 he will absolutely bury it – he’s one of the most clinical strikers we’ve seen at Ibrox for an age, and while many will point to the rotten run of three matches without a goal, Colak only got a single half chance in the entire 200 minutes’ football he played.

Against Ajax and Napoli he was given absolutely nothing and against Celtic he got a mini half chance.

But as we saw v Utd, give him a real chance, and he will absolutely finish it.

Given he’s joint-top SPL scorer along with two Celtic guys despite Rangers’ rotten domestic form gives some idea of how good this lad actually is.

Celtic are blowing everyone away, but Rangers aren’t, yet this jewel up front for us still shines anyway.

Bear in mind, Colak is the only striker of the three to have actually scored in Europe this season, with his three in UCL qualifying as well.

So his CV this campaign is just excellent.

He’s a real bright spot of an otherwise poor summer window – and with luck, he’ll keep on getting better for us.

Happy birthday Antonio Colak.

  1. Give him the ball in front of goal and he will probably stick it away. But don’t expect too much else in terms of taking part in the game. There will be games where he does absolutely nothing and fans will complain but it’s not his fault if he doesn’t get the service.

  2. This guy will score loads of goals “at a certain level ” much like boydy …..but hey we play in a league that is a “certain level” ,so all good ! .
