We must admit, this isn’t one we wanted to ‘tell you so’ on, not at all. So it’s with regret that we do accept we’re in the Champions League for the money, and to make up the numbers. As we suggested, beating PSV was the pinnacle, getting to the group stage was the massive deal.

Beyond that, anything good was a bonus.

We explained how the level of the UCL was a gigantic hike from the UEL, and a lot of fans were deluded by our run to Seville to believe that the UCL would be a cakewalk as well.

And reality has bitten.

So where are we?

We forget about the UCL – we ‘enjoy’ being there (how much can you enjoy being hammered 4-0 every week) and we pay no heed to it.

It’s a ‘bonus’ and we’re out of our depth.

But the league is still there.

We have to literally forget about Europe this season (forget the UEL, we will be out of Europe and finish bottom in this table) and concentrate completely on 56.

Celtic will be focused on their UCL group and may just take their eye off the ball domestically – we have to hold our hands up and admit they are currently stronger in every department, but it doesn’t mean we can’t launch a serious challenge in the league.

Things may change over the next few months, Celtic may lose form, and Rangers may gain some, but Europe is immaterial.

We said months ago that the UCL was 100% priority to get there, then it was 56.

You mostly all agreed.

So let’s not take the UCL too seriously, and prioritise the league completely, because it is number one now.

We must regain the league, and frankly our European journey isn’t really that important.

  1. There is something wrong behind the scenes at Ibrox . I think there is serious friction between the board Ross Wilson and GVB. The league is the OnLy priority , nothing else . Not the CL not Europe and not this muse of Edminston House . We have no proper toilet facilities for women outside Ibrox or for men either apart from smelly uncleaned minimal portaloos . The Disabled still battle for access we are miles behind top even medium EPL and Championship grounds.

  2. Mentioned that before bill ,spot on .Ibrox now looks dated to me ,especially when you watch the EPL and the stadia they have ,ffs seen evertons new stadium ? WOW!
I have seen magnificent stadiums from such countries as romania ,denmark ,portugal and holland as well ,before anyone says we have not got money /investment to vastly improve the brox .
Perhaps that is why the board are being rather tight ..who knows .
