Press rejects Celtic as Rangers become the toast of UCL

In an extraordinary show of the media’s interest in Rangers the past few months/years, tonight’s headlines are all about the Famous Glasgow Rangers and our Battle of Britain with Liverpool, in a pairing that has set tongues wagging.

We’ve not seen a single headline interested in Celtic facing Real Madrid.

It gives some idea of the stock of both of these clubs that Rangers facing the Anfield giants is the talk of the Champions League draw, while Celtic getting a huge Spanish club hasn’t even registered.

Quite honestly, few are interested in Parkhead – their repeated failures in Europe at every level the past 10 years have disgraced Scotland and made the rest of the country (UK) disinterested in their fate at this level, while Rangers’ incredible profile as a result of the Europe League final and the astonishing win over PSV has left interest levels in all things Rangers stratospheric.

And that’s justice.

Celtic had a chance to make an incredible juggernaut in our absence, to build an unstoppable team with the wads of cash they had. But they completely flunked it.

And Rangers, on a marginal budget by comparison, have absolutely taken Europe by storm the past few years. And just keep doing it.

Meanwhile, while Liverpool’s start to the season has been pretty poor, their achievements in Europe in recent seasons have been pretty remarkable as well and their stock up there as one of the world’s biggest clubs. So no wonder a meeting of them and Rangers is going to be so high profile.

It really, is, once again, all about the Rangers.

  1. It’s us and us alone that gained that place in the CL both for Rangers and unfortunately for the rotten mob. It will be great to watch us give of our best , and watch the rotten mob slither out the side door as they do in Europe . I see the pathetic 2nd class trolls are at it again …a week in Costa Del Sol is not European competition in Scottish Football WATP GSTQ

  2. As with the Tom English crap, BBC headlined them before Rangers in their reporting of the draw.
    Nothing will ever change.
Keep up the good work lads.
