Bonkers rumour surfaces as Rangers ‘make enquiry’ about Ronaldo

Ok, we post this one with more than a note of caution, but then, we signed Jermain Defoe, Joey Barton and Aaron Ramsey so absolutely anything is literally possible.

Especially now that Rangers are officially in the Champions League (almost doesn’t feel real, does it) once again.

So, yes, there’s a bonkers (we think) story that Rangers have genuinely enquired to Man Utd about taking Cristiano Ronaldo on loan.

We want to just dismiss this as complete nonsense, but then, if we did the same with Ramsey who was in very similar circumstances with Juve, this one isn’t impossible either.

Now, before you compare – Ramsey was a write off at Juve – constantly injured and a very poor performer, he was just a waste of their time, and ours.

Ronaldo has never been a waste of anyone’s time, whatever he was being paid.

It’s been made clear that he wants to leave Utd for a UCL team, and the bonkers rumour is Rangers have made an enquiry.

In fact, it’s not bonkers at all. Rangers asking Man Utd if Ronaldo is available to come north on loan isn’t bonkers. We’d be more upset if we thought we were too small to even dare such a deal.

No, the crazy part would be if they accepted the enquiry and Mr Ronaldo actually did want to join.

If you do not ask, you do not get, and while the chances of CR7 actually joining us are next to zero, there is absolutely nothing wrong with throwing your hat in the ring to try.

We have everything going for us now – we have finance, UCL, and we’re going completely in the right direction.

We have a high profile thanks to the UEL final, and beating PSV – Ronaldo and many other players will know all about us.

We know lots of big sides have pulled out of any deal with him, but could Rangers pull off the biggest shock signing in the history of Scottish or even British football?

Who knows…

  1. It amazes me that you still use Joey Barton as an example of an “impossible” signing. Joey Barton was a EPL bottom feeder or average Championship player at best. It didn’t surprise me in the slightest that he couldn’t cut it at Rangers. We’ve signed scores of players who were much better than Barton.

  2. I did say before we played psv ,that he would be a great signing to push us though v them and boost the club for that all important 50 million winner takes all ,however we are through now and do not think he would trouble the 3 teams in CL greatly ,not needed anymore ,bring the Younger blood in ….not that it would break my heart if we signed him 👍
