Lewis Ferguson to Rangers is finally, unequivocally, officially dead. The 22 year old will move to Bologna in a few days in a £3M move, completely ending any embers of interest Rangers are said to have ever had in the midfielder, in a move which will delight many and disappoint many more.

The famous member of the Ferguson dynasty at Ibrox has been linked with the club for years, but after his uncle Barry expressed surprised Rangers never made a move for him, it seems Millwall’s loss after they failed with a £1.5M bid is Bologna’s gain.

Is this one who got away?

If we’d wanted Ferguson, we’d have got him.

If we valued him at £3M, we’d have paid it.

We didn’t, we haven’t and we don’t.

The club made the call that the lad isn’t worth £3M, and moved on to other targets.

It just wasn’t meant to be, and he’ll move instead to Serie A where he’ll become only the second Scot (after now-Brentford LB) Aaron Hickey to move out there in recent times.

End of the day, Rangers weren’t interested. Enough anyway, to make the bid that Aberdeen wanted.

But Bologna were. And the Dons get another £3M in their coffers in what has been a very profitable window for them.

And that ends the Ferguson stuff for good.

Can’t wait till he stands out in Serie A and Rangers fans the length and breadth of the country start pining for him…

  1. It’s a pity , but it was always going to happen , we had enough chances to get him, Gerrard didn’t fancy him either. Although dealing with the SS is always difficult for the Famous. I hope he does well he deserves a better club than the SS . Pleased for Hickey too that’s a superb move for him .
