Rangers’ Joe Aribo has been linked strongly with a move south this summer, with Crystal Palace the main name floating around in connection with him.

The talented playmaker, electric till AFCON, has seen a much less productive second half of the season since his return from Cameroon, with a total of just 8 goals and 10 assists in 50 outings.

5 assists this calendar year but just 2 goals have seen a modestly less impressive 2022 for the big Nigerian, and with his deal expiring next summer year, he’s certainly attracting interest from down south.

As we say, the main name has been Crystal Palace, and that story has persisted from the infamous Football Insider, but there are other suitors and we know Galatasaray had an offer of £6M rejected a year or two ago. Aribo’s agent reportedly went to Istanbul for that one.

As things stand? Aribo in full flow is a fine player who can deliver for sure at SPL levels, but his numbers posted in European competition are far less inspired, just 2 goals and 3 assists in 29 UEL appearances. In qualifying it’s not much better, 3 assists in 9.

Is he untouchable? No, he isn’t, but Aribo will want to be part of a CL assault for the Famous should we make it, and like quite a few potentially exiting players, our clinching of that competition will play a big role in whether he stays beyond the summer.

We’ll see.

  1. I love Aribo, lad can do things with a ball that others only dream of but he has been poor since AFCON until the last few games. I recon he suffers from the terrible pitches over the winter months as it’s almost a regular occurrence every season for him to vanish from January until now. Still, a good few last games (leading us to a European title hopefully) can only increase his profile and the amount we can demand for him in the summer despite only having a year left on his contract. If they can get major fees for players with only a year left, what can we ask for a European title winner?

  2. No chance, hes part of a squad that are in a euro semi final fixture and may go further, add at least another 5 on top mate 😁
