The Alfredo Morelos issue on Sunday is big. Very big. We’re aware of his injury, and we’re aware he’s a 50/50.

We’ll be blunt – without Alfie, our attack, which hasn’t been potent even with him recently, will be absolutely blunt, and his making the match is beyond critical.

We’re, on a rare moment of gratitude to them, thankful to the Colombian NT who sent him home early so he could be ready for Sunday and gain fitness, rather than keeping him with them, giving him medical at the camp and readying him that way.

This way, we closely monitor him, and do everything in the club’s power to get Alfie ready for a Sunday in which his presence is critical.

If he’s not there, he won’t bully Celtic’s defence, their fullbacks will get peace, and there will be limited threat on Joe Hart’s goal. And we can’t see ourselves winning in that case.

Rangers don’t tend to beat Celtic when Alfie’s not around, because he’s the one who puts their defenders in their place. Not necessarily because he scores so many, but because he’s such an epic team player who drags defenders, creates space, wins fouls and takes his men up the park.

He’s a talisman, no question.

Kemar Roofe’s limitations as a 9 were starkly exposed at Parkhead, as Rangers dearly struggled to hold onto the ball. He wasn’t the only offender but it certainly showed what he can’t do.

And Morelos can.

Rangers’ potential to win this one rests on Morelos being there.

Can’t win without him? Won’t go that far, but it would be much much harder.
