New deal for Kent admidst Villa interest in Rangers winger

After one chap contacted Ibrox Noise claiming Aston Villa have a £50M swoop lined up for Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo this summer (maybe the bit about the pair being out of contract in 2023 was overlooked) we did want to have a look into the situation with Kent in particular and see where we’re at.

Depending on who you believe, Kent is being both cashed in on and extended at the same time, which is pretty remarkable, but with information suggesting his personal reasons for wishing a move to England are no longer valid, it could be that Kent is happy to stay at Ibrox and extend that deal after all.

His deal expires in a year and a half, which means he (and Aribo) could win 56/UEL, sample UCL next season then leave for nothing in 23.

And Rangers certainly don’t want that.

Kent has a market value of at LEAST £15M, frankly it’s considerably more with the Patterson factor taken into account – but of course that value does hinge on a new contract.

The winger has been outstanding in recent times, with some world class displays in the Europa League propelling him to front-seat viewing.

As such, the value has risen, contract notwithstanding.

Hence getting him long term on a new deal is pivotal.

Information is certainly the case that Rangers are looking into keeping him, but the lad knows his value and his importance and he’ll want a deal that reflects that.

Kent is happy here – he’s always been happy here. We gave his career a second chance and he’s had Old Firm as well as top class Euro opponents to enjoy.

He had personal reasons for being pliable to a move south, with Leeds well known to be interested, but we don’t believe those reasons are applicable any more and Rangers may well be able to keep him.

We’d certainly prefer that.
