GVB has effectively confirmed Ryan Jack was NOT ‘rested’ on his birthday to enjoy a day off celebrating, and was in fact injured hence being excluded for Motherwell and unavailable again for tomorrow.

The marauding midfielder, such a stellar influence when fit, was starting to put together a stunning midfield with in-form John Lundstram but has picked up yet another setback either v Borussia or in training, and while he’s anticipated to be back at the weekend, we’d put absolutely no hope in that prognosis with the way Rangers’ injuries have gone this season.

As Ibrox Noise suggested on Sunday, we knew of no footballers who had ever been given a match off on their birthday so they could celebrate, and we also had no idea why a guy out for a year would now need a rest.

So it turns out that was correct, and Gio’s hand was forced there a little in that particular rotation.

It didn’t justify Lundstram being wasted in defence, but does reveal why Jack wasn’t there.
