The ‘secret’ of Rangers’ romp v Hearts isn’t that complicated

As Ibrox Noise covered yesterday, Rangers finally broke the 4-year hoodoo of bad post-new year performances by finally delivering a fine display at this time of year.

Fans have always conspired to compile conspiracy theories, wondering why on earth we’d always come back and be sluggish.

In previous years we really had no tangible reason.

This year we do.

Not only do we have an experienced manager who knows what he’s doing, and how to get a reaction, but he also has something at Ibrox he’s not had till now:

His best players available.

Aside Filip Helander, there’s not a single unavailable player now in Govan who would potentially improve our lot.

Giovanni van Bronkhorst has Alfredo Morelos back, he has Ryan Jack, he has a full midfield compliment, and Nigerian stopper Leon Balogun is fit again. He also has Ryan Kent in form again.

In short, it’s a crazy theory, but isn’t it just amazing how much better Rangers are when our club’s best players are at the disposal of the manager, an experienced manager who knows how to use them?

The quiet secret of Wednesday is we were actually much, MUCH better in that second half, but the damage had been done – and that improvement was thanks to the introduction, among others, of the outstanding Ryan Jack and solid Leon Balogun.

Add to them Alfredo Morelos, and finally, FINALLY Rangers have their best players back, and we saw yesterday a sample of the damage that can do.

It’s not really that bonkers that your best players are a big help!

  1. Agree 100%, add together the excellent cameos and goals scored by Sakala and Kamara. Plus a powerhouse performance by Scotty Arfield. If we had that in place on Wedbesday we define would have got a result at the midden.

  2. We now have these players available so all we need know is for them to hit form that they haven’t found this season, not just since the break. If we can get regulars like Tavernier, Goldson, Kamara, Aribo, Davis, Kent and Morelos playing consistently near their best we’ll do well. Throw in a mix of Balogun, Jack, Helander, Diallo, Lundstram, Sakala and Ramsey and we are the best team in the country. But they have to do it on the pitch.

  3. Yip we have them back, but how long again until Jack, Balogun, Helander get injured again. Balogun is good defender. But we need someone better for champs league if/when it comes. When we played Malmo, Colak gave Balogun the run around, and lets face it they are hardly Champs Lge material. I do like him but hes always injured and hes Europa League level not champs. Helander would be best. But hes always injured too. We need better and reliable CB’s. At least another 2 after Souttar arrives. As Goldson will be off. Who knows whats happening with Katic and ive explained the other two
