About time he got some support (Credit Rangers FC)

Amad Diallo’s double today against Brentford in a bounce game for Christian Eriksen could help get the boo boys off his back, fans who have 100% turned on the Ivorian following his inauspicious start to life at Ibrox.

The 19-year old has been under heavy criticism from a section of the support, who have decided he’s a joke, a dud, and a coward, and have castigated him for … frankly we’re not quite sure, but they’ve decided a lot of negatives about him.

But today the winger nailed a double against Brentford, PL competition no less, in a friendly for Eriksen which could give some help to his case that they’re being a bit harsh in their assessment.

Indeed, the PL outfit lined up with plenty of first-teamers, and Diallo’s performance against them in that first half will hopefully ease some of the criticism he’s started to get, and we have to say some of it verges on abusive.

We’re a little disappointed with some fans recently – one minute they’re trying to sack Gio, the next they’re abusing a 19-year old kid for not settling at Ibrox instantly.

Like all players, he deserves a chance, an opportunity to show what he can do. If after a few months he still hasn’t thrived then sure, maybe we can criticise a little.

But he just scored against a side far superior to anything in the SPL. Twice.
