Rangers cult hero joins Glasgow’s second-biggest club in surprise exit
Best of luck, Andy Firth....

Rangers’ surreal cult hero Andy Firth has today joined Partick Thistle on loan, having played just 7 senior minutes of football for the club since joining from Barrow Town in 2019.

Popular with fans on social media, the 25-year old has been the butt of a few jokes among supporters who could never quite fathom why Steven Gerrard signed someone from the National League to be our third goalkeeper, but today he joins Thistle.

We’re not quite sure how this one works, in truth, given he’s a Rangers player and the transfer window long closed, but somehow it’s been pushed through and Firth will play the rest of the season for the second-biggest club in Glasgow.

He does have coaching badges, from his time with Liverpool’s youth academy, and Rangers rate him enough that we gave him a new deal last April, but it’ll be Partick where he plies his trade from now on.

We wish him well.
