Change in selection policy as Rangers duo shock fans…
A happy man with a fine midfield....

As of only 3 weeks ago, Rangers’ first-choice midfield duo was clearly Scotty Arfield and Glen Kamara.

Ibrox Noise readers know how highly we rate Scotty, and revelled in him getting his run in the team he’d earned.

We are and have always been less flattering about Glen, always feeling he’s played a great deal within himself – Ibrox Noise’s Derek has been scathing for years about the Fin, about his laziness and lack of concentration, something most of us agree with.

He has exceptional talent, he could go to the very top of the game, but the fact no bids arrived for him in January says a lot for his stock at present.

However, this has all become a bit moot, because Rangers just got a stunning upgrade in that department, completely for free, and the team is a different animal for it.

Ryan Jack. We’ve said it all already, what else do we need to add. 75% of the driving force behind 55, Jack is a force of nature, and the impact of him has been seen every appearance he’s made since coming back. He was our only bright spot in his cameo during the disaster v Hibs, he blew the side away at Parkhead, and has been stellar since then. He was mesmerising on Thursday.

John Lundstram. Finally given his chance and he’s not just taken it, he’s seized it, crushed it, slammed it, and demonstrated to Gio that he’s undroppable now. He’s been the complete midfielder – massive tackles, massive goals, quite stupendous passing – he’s not put a single foot wrong since he got his opening.

With these two, unfortunately Glen and Scotty are going to have to sit on the bench.

Maybe not every match, rotation is essential especially with Jack’s injury history, but the harsh reality is with Jacko and Lunny around, no one can make a compelling case for preference in that slot, not even Scotty.

It’s a stunning puzzle to have – Lunny, Jacko, Scotty, Kamara, Davo, and let’s not forget Ramsey…

Embarrassment of riches…

  1. Any1 ever noticed when Kamara picks up the ball, hel turn to one side to pass, but never looks behind him to the opposite full back area to what hes facing. Theres always space behind him but he wont turn and see it.

  2. Aaron Ramsey has been a total professional all his career, unfortunately he has suffered bad and long prolonged layoffs does anyone feel that this has been a bad move for both player and club , 4 months to get up to full fitness and be a 1st pick for rangers or wales . Look how long we’ve waited on Ryan Jack making it back .I’d love to see him destroying this league and going onto play for wales . #56 WATP
