Alfredo Morelos has been recognised for the second time in recent UEL matches after his stunning performance v Borussia was up for player of the round, following a vote for his brace against Sparta Prague.

The Colombian hitman, potentially hitting form even better than his 2019 zenith, is the absolute toast of Europe at present, with Marco Rose’s pre-match slur that Morelos was ‘little’ looking incredibly stupid after he destroyed Mats Hummels and co.

The former HJK man thrives in Europe, and while it’s still possible he seeks a move to a better league (let’s face it, he’s more than capable of coping with a better league) he’s been more content to stay his time at Ibrox in recent months with extremely positive soundbites to that effect.

There’s also the lure of the Champions League, which the 25-year old admits is a big temptation, and performing at that level is clearly something he’s similarly capable of, having rampaged through some of the best sides in Europe already.

But once more UEFA acknowledge his prowess, and have him among a four-player shortlist for player of the round.

He’ll probably win it too…
