GVB has confirmed Romanian star Ianis Hagi is not only out for the season, but will miss the start of next season too following NT boss Edward Iordănescu alleging this in recent days.

The former Genk man took a nasty one some weeks ago and was ruled out for the season fairly quickly, with initial anticipation expecting he’d be fit by the time pre-season began, but those hopes have been doused and it’s starting to look like it could be approaching autumn before the Romanian is in action again.

It’s a bit of a blow to the young man, and certainly means unless there’s a shock recovery, he will not be the subject of any transfer speculation this summer and will be extremely unlikely to leave, so he now has to plan 100% focused on his injury and rehabilitation at Ibrox.

It could also mean he misses the start of Rangers’ CL campaign, should we get there by way of 56, which is a lucrative honour every player at Ibrox will want to have, to be part of.

All we can do is wish him the best and a speedy recovery.
