GVB has confirmed Filip Helander’s injury hell is finally over and the big Swede will start tomorrow in Annan.
Helander was stretchered off in September, on the 11th, strangely enough, and has missed that, October, November, December, January and a third of February in an extended absence, and hopefully, his last.
But Gio confirmed he will be in the XI tomorrow in a welcome return for the former Bologna man, at a time Rangers critically need defensive units available.
It had been feared he wouldn’t be fully match fit till a little later in February, and of course, he clearly isn’t exactly match fit yet, but Annan is viewed as an ideal opportunity to get minutes in the legs and have him ready for the rigours of Spring football as the split approaches.
Welcome back Filip Helander.
Great news and not just because we need numbers. We genuinely need him at the back and the timing is great in that he can get a game in his legs in a fairly low risk game.
