Rangers’ pursuit of Dutch stopper Danilho Doekhi got a boost today after media suggestions from respected journalists hinted the signing of John Souttar put Rangers in a particularly strong position to secure the Vitesse man.

We will admit we’re not quite sure what the connection there is, exactly, but Doekhi for his part has been strong in admitting he’d love the move to Ibrox, albeit he conceded he’s also interested in rivals for his signature, Napoli.

The 23-year old defender has been a long-term target for the club since before Gio van Bronckhorst arrived, and the loss another one today, Andreas Skov Olsen is a bit of a blow, so securing Doekhi before too long would be a nice boost and a solid third defensive addition of the window.

James Sands (a defensive midfielder and CB) and Souttar (CB) are helpful in the quest for 56, and Doekhi would be another needed CB to aid the backline out.

Whether Rangers fans see this one get over the line is unknown at this point, but signs are fairly positive.
