In a blow to Rangers’ January transfer plans, long-term target Andreas Skov Olsen has chosen Belgian cracks Club Bruge and will not be coming to Ibrox.

The Danish winger was left down to a 5-club choice of Rangers, Hertha, Copenhagen, Torino and the Belgian side, with the Jupiler giants having bid the asking price along with, reportedly, Rangers.

But it appears the 22-year old has formally decided he wishes to join the ranks in Belgium, as opposed to Scotland.

This is one occasion, sadly, where Rangers’ league location has counted against us, and a target eager to come to a big club has had to make do with a much smaller one but in a superior league.

Let’s be clear – Skov Olsen has chosen the Jupiler league over the SPL, and we don’t blame him one bit for that.

If a straight choice between Rangers and Bruge, without the league issue, Skov Olsen would have happily come to Ibrox.

As it is, the Jupiler Pro offers higher quality and more European opportunities and despite Rangers’ CL potential for next season, Skov Olsen seems to have decided the domestic competition in Belgium is worth the move.

We move on.
