Rangers’ opponents today Dundee United are of course at the centre of a Covid outbreak, with lots being said about the fact this was contracted at a party in Newcastle.

We know at least two players are isolating, and we are also aware that after in autumn being one of the SPL’s form sides, the Arabs’ performances have tumbled and they’ve just one win in 5.

In short, even before they lost their current (unnamed) pair, they were in dire form.

This is a match Rangers should have sown up quite easily.

The reality is people are going to judge what Utd did – they sanctioned their players going south and claim they followed all the proper protocols.

And in truth, if they did that, fair enough.

The problem is in the depth of winter, as we knew, Covid cases would rise, and football clubs and other sporting groups need to take a bit more caution than some are, and according to their manager around 20 other clubs were also at this do.

Which makes it absolutely fine, of course (!)

Ok, who are we to judge? As the numbers rise, we end up making up more rules as we go along, and protocols change on a daily basis.

End of the day, as long as we win today, what will be, will be.
