Why Gio REALLY didn’t give them a rollicking at half time

Ross Wilson’s admission during the presser yesterday that Gio’s work permit only finally completed that morning affirms without any doubt why the new boss couldn’t go down at HT and sort the side out.

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has gone off on one, claiming he’d have gone down anyway, work permit or not, but this has been scoffed at, and the reality is legally speaking GVB had no jurisdiction to go anywhere near the dressing room.

Had he tried, had he gone down there and tried, you can guarantee Hibs would have reported that and we’d be getting hauled up on potentially criminal charges as well as football ones.

Why?

Because until the morning of the presser, GVB was a guest of this country, and if he tried to undertake the role of manager by going in that dressing room, he’d have been classed as ‘illegal immigrant’ and the book and the bookcase, followed by the library, brick-by-brick, would have been thrown at him and the club.

The risk was far too big, far too severe, and there’s no way Hibs, if they’d spotted it, would have let it go.

It is what it is, we forget Sunday, and we move on.
