The move for Heerenveen’s Joey Veerman is officially over after the Dutch master admitted rivals Feyenoord is where he’s intending to go.
Rangers have been linked with Veerman for many months, but in truth Ibrox Noise was put off by his attitude of mercenary-ism and complaining bitterly about his current employers.
Indeed, Veerman slammed Heerenveen for their valuation of him, and whined about their conduct – not exactly the professionalism we want in our team where our players now carry themselves to the highest standards or they’re out.
He said:
If ever a player’s public attitude betrayed his personality, Joey Veerman would be it.
We’ve held back from expressing any views on the man, given you don’t sign players for their personalities, because he is a ‘baller’, but his constant sniping in the press and now publicly plugging himself for Feyenoord is the conduct of a player who we really don’t want upsetting the Ibrox apple cart at all.
Remember, Veerman is very much under contract and his regular press soundbites have far from endeared him to us.
Rangers demand better professionalism than this so Feyenoord are thoroughly welcome to him.
Like him as a player, but the boy is not a man yet
better off without him i think…we have a strong team anyway. hes going to a team we put out of europe so fine by me haha
