Steven Gerrard has finally delivered the news Rangers fans wanted to hear amidst interest from Tottenham – he’s not going anywhere.

While the manager has said this before, the silence from him in recent weeks, mainly due to him taking a little time off to recharge the batteries, has given rise to tabloid tales and a small amount of unrest given all the clubs allegedly trying to steal him away from Ibrox.

But Gerrard has now absolutely confirmed he will be here at Ibrox next season and he will not be going south to Spurs. Not at all.

He said:

“I want us to defend this championship with our lives and also attack 2021/22 with everything we have got, with hopefully all our fans back at Ibrox and at away games if the coronavirus restrictions allow for that. It goes without saying that we have missed our supporters massively and, while we want to build on our recent league success for them, we also want to improve and go further in the domestic cup competitions while striving to be better in Europe. So there is much to play for next season and with new faces in our squad there is no reason why we can’t go into it with great optimism, excitement and belief. But for me, that is what being at this club is all about – it is about success, trophies and keeping that hunger and consistency moving forward. That hunger is either in you or it is not and I think the day when I don’t feel it in me is the day I won’t get involved in football or I’ll call it a day. But right now I feel really optimistic and excited about the future at Rangers.”

If ever Steven Gerrard could make an unequivocal ‘I’m staying’ and ‘I’m not interested in Spurs’ statement, this would be it.

While he does not go as far as to explicitly use the phrases above, he comes close, and commits to the club 100% for next season, clearly excited about putting right the dismal cup results of last season while having his first crack at the Champions League as a manager.

So, to Tottenham, Everton, and indeed any other PL side apart, obviously, from Liverpool – he’s not interested in leaving Rangers and won’t be for some considerable time.

And you can quote HIM on that.
