With almost everyone and their dog now linked to Glasgow Rangers there is one candidate that looks the real deal, Abdou Harroui.

He is a CM, who can stand in for Ryan Jack. He is 1 inch shorter at 5′ 11″ than Jack, but he is fast, has Kent-like acceleration, can shoot with both feet, and he appears to be tactically aware.

His other strengths are he has a powerful shot, and he is very difficult to dispossess.

In some ways his style is similar to Joe Aribo, in others he is like Ryan Kent, but he is far more accurate in his passing, and appears to have Ianis Hagi’s ability to play a killer pass diagonally through the defensive line. He can also do the long Goldson pass from the back.

According to Transfermarkt his current contract expires in 2022. So, we should be able to get him at a reasonable price, and as always, we have the Gerrard effect.

Abdou is a midfielder…and yeah playing in the SPFL does have downsides, but I just cannot see him turning down the chance to learn from one of the world’s best midfielders.
