Rangers have today confirmed some massive changes at Ibrox which show a serious intent on moving forward and evolving.
Bongani Zungu is officially gone, the disastrously bad South African signing that just didn’t work out, sadly. Didn’t impress, but did a fine turn for the club that infamous night v Praha, and we thank him for that.
Greg Stewart follows him – another pretty mediocre addition, he was a squad player who gave his all when he played but wasn’t up to the level needed even for the ‘numbers’, but he’s one of us who got to play for the team he loves so best of luck to him in the future.
Last but not least is the big news – Jermain Defoe not only signed the new deal for another year at Ibrox, but his ‘retirement’ was partially confirmed when it was announced he’s moved mostly into coaching. He now forms part of the management team with Stevie and the group, but will be available as a player too – in short, player/coach role.
All these changes are a big deal in the evolution of our club, and we’ll go through them in more detail in due course.
But it’s good changes and the club never sleeps.
