Ok, we hadn’t forgotten there’s a massive match today, and it’s time to finally get on with the football again!

Rangers welcome Cove Rangers to Ibrox at the odd kick-off time of 18:30, with the winner given Celtic in the next round.

The wee Rangers obviously share our name in part, and many fans expect a stroll today, and that complacency is what cost us the League Cup v St Mirren.

No complacency, whatsoever, you put out your best team available and we’re sure Stevie will do exactly that – he’ll have learned from the cup exit that going fringe just doesn’t work.

The most curious ditty for us today is Cove is where former Hibs hatchet man Fraser Fyvie ended up – sure, he had some half decent displays v us back in the Championship days, but he was quite brutal too.

Aged 28, the football journeyman is now a League One player, the Wee Rangers trailing Falkirk by 4 points in second place.

The other curious ditty is of course Cove’s manager – former Celtic star Paul Hartley, to his credit, has done a decent job there, getting them up from being brand new in League Two to the summit of League One, and let’s not just assume we’ll stroll this one due to their lowly status.

True, if all is pure and holy Rangers will win, but Hartley will have his men fired up, and they’re in great form, so if there’s a good time for them to have a sniff of a tumultuous cup upset, it’s about now.

With 4 wins in their last 6 matches, Cove won’t be pushovers, and must be respected.

And you can expect Fyvie to get more than stuck in.

Could be a lively one.
