Rangers fans are awash with buzz over Steven Gerrard’s extensive chat at full time with Royal Antwerp’s Frank Boya, who stood out in both legs v Rangers and who claims he turned down a move to Rangers in recent years.

The 24 year old defensive midfielder, with a reported value of only around £1M, has been in and out of the Antwerp squad this season, but Rangers fans wonder if his significant discourse with Rangers’ boss after the defeat means much.

In truth it likely does and doesn’t – Gerrard is always interested in good players, and with rumours persisting that Glen Kamara will be sold in the summer as well as Ryan Jack’s unreliable fitness, Steven Davis’ age and Bongani Zungu’s imminent return to Amiens, Rangers definitely require bolstering in that position.

The two-times Cameroon cap said this:

“The proof that I did well at Mouscron was the amount of offers I received from big clubs. I had no shortage of offers and Rangers and Werder Bremen were the most keen for me to join them.”

So he’s pretty adamant we’re interested and that quote was from last summer.

Maybe Stevie is still looking at him…

  1. I spotted that conversation and assumed that the player had maybe been at Liverpool. But no, it was Stevie indulging in a bit of blatant tapping. Nice one Stevie.
