PL giants West Ham United are to make a summer move for Rangers star Connor Goldson, Ibrox Noise understands.
The high-flying Londoners are long-time admirers of the former Brighton man, and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been utterly clear that Goldson is basically unsellable, being an absolute stalwart of the XI and Gerrard’s first choice selection alongside James Tavernier.
This interest from down south does mean Rangers will either make a significant profit on Goldson, or he will get a new deal soon, given he is one of few who never got offered one and his will expire next summer year.
Now, while he’s an ‘unsellable’, because he’s only got 18 months left, any suitor might not have to pay the market value for him, which is based on his performances this season and his importance to the club.
Realistically, Rangers could be looking at a £30M valuation due to how important he is to the team, but because it’s just a year and a half left on the deal, if no new one is forthcoming Rangers could lose him for a lot less than his actual value (albeit still a profit on the original price), or indeed as a free next summer.
But get the new deal, and West Ham would have to dig incredibly deep to sign him.
It’s one to watch, for sure.
