The news recently that West Ham are looking at Celtic’s Edouard and the Parkhead side want £35M for him gives some idea of the sheer value of Rangers’ best assets.

His numbers this season are decent, in truth, with 7 goals and 4 assists in the SPL and 2 in 4 in the UEL, but with the level Rangers players have been at in both of these competitions it gives a frightening idea of just how valuable our players actually are these days.

As we know, a key number of our best players have interest around them, and while the intention is not to sell any of them this month, a big enough bid will certainly pique the attention.

Alfredo Morelos’ form since 2019 has been ropey, true, but even then his numbers this campaign aren’t that horrible, with 6 goals 3 assists in 20 and 2 goals and an assist in the UEL. Indeed, while we know there’s speculation about his future, the bid to sign him, should there be one, would have to be significant.

But the real value of Rangers’ best players lies with Ryan Kent, Glen Kamara, Borna Barisic and James Tavernier, not to mention Connor Goldson and Ianis Hagi.

Kamara, Barisic and Tavernier especially are deeply lucrative, all having had stunning seasons (or two) and none of them would go for much less than the price tag of Edouard.

And once 55 is lifted those numbers will go up even more, and should Rangers decide to sell anyone and rebuild for the new season, the bids coming in would be monumental.

Excelling and winning the league is one thing, but doing it against real teams like Feyenoord, Porto and Standard Liege is the true currency. Combine the two and you have a winner.

Our point? If pathetic Celtic can get around £35M for Edouard or £25M for crock Tierney, Rangers’ best assets are worth the same if not more.

But let’s get 55 in first eh?
