A goliath afternoon at Ibrox may just have clinched 55
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - DECEMBER 19: Kemar Roofe of Rangers celebrates with teammate Cedric Itten after scoring their team's third goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Motherwell at Ibrox Stadium on December 19, 2020 in Glasgow, Scotland. Make no mistake, this afternoon was a defining result in the race for the title, 20/21.

Rangers, lining up their big hitters, struggling to overcome a Motherwell 5-5 defensive unit that, to its credit, came to Ibrox with a plan and stuck to it.

Celtic watching on, hoping the long-lasting 0-1 scoreline would continue, and a massive scalp would be taken by the Steelmen.

Only the real steel was shown by Rangers and Steven Gerrard.

It took until 73 minutes before Rangers could finally breach one of the most stubborn rearguards we’ve ever seen at Ibrox, but thanks to substitutions such as Hagi, Aribo and Itten, Rangers introduced creativity and firepower.

Think about it – Rangers were able to call upon a Romanian international, a Nigerian international and a Switzerland international.

And all three played huge roles in the comeback – and that’s the difference now.

From the bench we can call upon excellent players, real game-changing players, players who alter the tactics and give us options.

And they won it for us today.

And absolutely obliterated Celtic’s hearts in the process.

If Hearts crush their opponents’ hearts tomorrow, it will be a weekend Lennon and his men are unlikely to recover from in any way.

They fully believed at 72 minutes that the momentum had swung, that the tide was going back to the green.

But it didn’t. It isn’t. It won’t.

The Steelmen came to Ibrox, but the real steel was from the hosts.

  1. Excellent stuff guys so true . That wretch Andy Walker was doing his Sky thing for Gillette Saturday great programme , he was keeping his grinning coupon not well concealed when commented from Ibrox at 1-0 , by 2- 1 for the Famous he was spewing lolo ha ha ha it was priceless . Onwards 55 WATP game that may win the league

  2. Please let’s not talk about 55 for now. After Wednesday’s disaster I said we need to win our next 6 games (including Hibs, Ceptic and Aberdeen) before we start bragging about what we’re going to win. That’s one down and 5 to go!
