After yet another sensational European night under Steven Gerrard, Ibrox Noise brings you our ratings for a 0-4 drubbing in Tilburg.

McGregor:

Jon McLaughlin has had a good time of it in goal, but his lapse for Wright’s opener v Hibs at the weekend gave McGregor a small opening in Holland and boy did he produce one of his European goalkeeping masterclasses to remind the new boy the old timer is still breathing down his neck. At least two or three of his now-standard European night world class saves to show the club he isn’t giving up his shirt lightly. 9

Tavernier:

Took the opening penalty well, and while he lost the ball once or twice, it was a solid performance with balance down the right. Some excellent defending when needed. 8

Goldson:

Sturdy and some crucial clearances, not to mention a fantastic headed goal, this was another fine display from Goldson who’s become an easy target this season for the boo boys. He was a little lapse for one chance which forced Greegs to bail him out, but otherwise, very good. 8

Helander:

Some excellent tackling and blocks, and a rare headed goal. Oh wait, there’s another. Helander read the game well, and the few times he or Goldson needed a hand, McGregor was on call. 8

Barisic:

Strangely poor night for Barisic, whose weird early yellow card (what was he thinking and why did he protest it so innocently) put him on the back foot, and he was definitely not at his usual level. 6

Kamara:

Strong night from the Finnish star who’s having a fine season overall and keeps being determined to prove to his gaffer he deserves to remain in the side. Passing was neat, he was tough, and he roamed well. Good display. 8

Davis:

Ok, he gave the ball away once or twice, which has now become more ‘characteristic’ of him as he ages, but he was still brilliantly composed and read the flow well. Partnering Kamara rather solidly – they provide a decent foil for one another. 8

Kent:

Sublime. You could tell this was going to be a hungry night from him after he got in behind the defence early and slightly miscontrolled possibly due to distraction from extreme floodlighting. Won a penalty, assisted another one, scored – he just decimated Willem’s backline and they had no answer for him. He’s in mercurial form. 10

Arfield:

Very professional and hard working from Arfield who combined midfield with attack really well and especially focused link play while harrying tonnes off the ball. He is determined to hold onto his place and he’s raising his game to do it. 8

Hagi:

Took a long time to get into this one, a little subdued for spells, and maybe didn’t impact the match as much as he’s capable of. He’s having a touch of second season syndrome, and isn’t as stand out as he was earlier this year but he certainly wasn’t bad. Staggering miss late on demonstrated his confidence level. He’ll get there. 7

Morelos:

Looking a bit leaner, but still selfish up front and the more he plays for himself the more you realise we’re better off rid of him. He does do a good job of dragging defenders around, but honestly, not a tonne else. 6

Subs:

Jones:

Jones should have had an excellent assist but for Hagi’s wastefulness, and he actually did himself proud in this cameo where he looked a bit more lively and more in tune. He is determined to either get his move or prove himself good enough for Rangers. Didn’t do either any harm with this performance. 7

Itten:

Just isn’t clicking – but we know we know ‘give him a chance’ etc. Tell his manager, not us! 5

Steven Gerrard:

May have fed a bit of a dummy to Willem and others (more on that later) but once again our manager shows stunning acumen in Europe and his team plays like they belong at this level. After three seasons of it, they clearly do. They nailed his gameplan perfectly and worked hard for their manager. Can’t fault anything he did in this one. 10
