Rangers wary as (un)wanted man tries to prove himself
If he plays, he could be a problem....

Injury notwithstanding, Rangers have a major danger today, in the form of Livi’s Lyndon Dykes. It’s not just how potent this striker is generally, it’s the fact Rangers just signed two new forwards, overlooking him, despite his public affirmation he’d love to go to Ibrox.

Lyndon Dykes will be out to prove Rangers should still snap him up, or to prove we were wrong to opt for Cedric Itten.

Make no mistake, while Livi’s form is rubbish, and the visitors should run out winners today, their star forward will be a physical handful for Connor Goldson and/or Filip Helander to deal with.

We already know he’s a tough, no-nonsense centre forward who uses his body well and doesn’t get shaken off the ball easily.

He’s also strong in the air, so Rangers’ defence, not generally noted for its aerial dominance, will have a tough time dealing with him.

And as we say, he has a double motivation – not only does he want to get his team up and running again after their woeful season’s start, but he wants to prove himself to Steven Gerrard.

Prove he was wrong to go elsewhere, and prove he’s still worth the money.

And he is, let’s face it – he’s probably the best SPL striker outside the Old Firm, give or take, and he’d be an asset to either side.

Let’s just hope if he does play today that he has an off one.

  1. Doesn’t look like he is going to play as QPR are in the process of finalising a £2,000,000 move for him. I still think he is over priced at that amount.
