There’s something disgraceful about Florian Kamberi

We’re not going to bang on about Rangers’ bad form much more, as pertinent as it would be to do so, but something yesterday, and to an extent on Thursday really stood out.

Rangers were absolutely horrific on Thursday until a substitution was made.

They were similarly horrific yesterday until one was made.

That substitution was the same one both times – Florian Kamberi coming on, and making the clear difference. He brought energy, quality, clinical finishing, assists, workrate and ingenuity.

And yet, break it down:

This is a guy we got on a panic loan from Hibs.

Hibs.

We borrowed a Hibs player with only a day or so left on the window timer – and a Hibs player, on loan, is now, on current form, our best player.

What on earth has gone wrong at Ibrox that multimillion pound players are being outperformed by an emergency loan player from a club way way below them in the table?!

Kamberi was brought in as critical backup to Morelos in case of injury, as a replacement for Jermain Defoe.

It turns out the Swiss/Albanian is our most potent attacker, and our best player all round, aside honourable mentions for Scott Arfield and Ianis Hagi (albeit yesterday wasn’t his day).

That is a damning indictment of… something. We don’t know what, if it’s of the squad, the players’ work ethic, their attitude, Stevie’s management… whatever.

That we had to loan a Hibs player as a squad backup and he’s now our best player at present.

That is deeply, deeply worrying.
