Huge pressure – fans expect, and not just from the team on Thursday…

Following the announcement of yet another RTV exclusive on Thursday, Rangers fans can be forgiven for their disgruntlement at the club channel getting sole UK broadcasting rights for the return leg v Legia.

While a minority of supporters enjoyed pain-free streaming for the UK (and indeed global, aside Poland) exclusive rights of the first leg, the majority were greeted by a collapsed website before the eventual streaming appeared mostly blurry.

In short, the performance and quality of the service was not up to scratch, especially not at the asking price of £10 – mainly because demand, for this particular fixture, was hugely increased over Rangers TV’s regular output, given normally they are unavailable in the UK.

And so we arrive again at yet another RTV lone project – Premier TV have been hit and miss with Rangers’ Europa League campaign – they clinched the St Joseph’s round exclusively, and ditto the Danes, but aside these it’s been a mish-mash between Premier and RTV.

And for Thursday, Wolves and Celtic are on Premier while Rangers fans are stuck with their club’s streaming service. Whether Premier weren’t interested in this match or Rangers TV just bid enough to exclusively clinch it, we couldn’t tell you, but at the end of the day, for such a crucial match, any sub-par performance of a £10 stream will be absolutely rounded on.

Rangers TV, while the content of the live matches is certainly decent enough (Tom Miller’s unmistakable tones are always tighter than two coats of paint, and some co-commentators are especially outstanding (Steven Smith and Alan McLaren come to mind)) the actual technical performance is borderline amateur.

RTV is under pressure this Thursday to perform almost as much as the team is.

    Mon the Gers👍WATP🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

  2. I don't see it as being "stuck" with RTV. Premier Sports have had their own problems with these broadcasts. Surely it is better financially if we broadcast it ourselves? On that subject does anyone know what sort of sales we get for televising these European matches?
