Six-man Rangers developments in bounce match….

Yesterday was a fascinating one for all things Rangers, given both the excellent result in Gibraltar for the senior side, while the Development Squad enjoyed a bunch of intriguing cameos.

There’s a lot to chew through, but on top of us covering the curious appearance of Jason Holt v Ayr, a glut of Rangers’ dead wood also showed up at the Hummel Training Centre to don the home shirt.

Eros Grezda, banished from the trip to Portugal, made a rare appearance in the blue. The Albanian just needs to keep fit, so this bounce game allowed him to do that, and Rangers await a suitor coming in.

Graham Dorrans got his second appearance in a DS match recently, and while he clearly has no future at Ibrox, he does seem to be retaining fitness reasonably well at the moment. We’re not sure if he’s just going to be freed or if Rangers are waiting for a loan deal for him.

Glenn Middleton, with his switch to Doncaster still in limbo, was also getting some movement in his legs. The winger won’t be part of Stevie’s plans this season, but definitely needs minutes elsewhere, and that was supposed to be with Grant McCann’s side, till that manager quit. So, for now, he will get the fitness he needs and we hope he finds the right side to learn his trade with for a season.

Ryan Hardie, who emerged lately as a target for Blackpool, is another one keeping the fitness up. It’s plain that Gerrard doesn’t want him, so the striker will want to get that move as soon as he can.

Jak Alnwick was another surprise appearance, after his name got rubbed on the UEL list with Andy Firth taking his place. So, instead, the stopper found himself in the sticks for this one, and it certainly suggests he is way down the Ibrox pecking order.

And the last one for now is Jamie Murphy – continuing his rehabilitations with the DS, Murphy will play no part in the early UEL qualifiers after being omitted from the squad to face St Joseph’s. That rule only applies to the squad for the first round so he becomes eligible again in round two. We’re just not sure he’ll get included anyway.

So, for now, that’s the latest!
