Stuart McCall; "I'm not bothered that I'm not first choice"

Stuart McCall has today dismissed fears over his job being at risk. With recent news of Karl Robinson’s rejection of Rangers’ overtures as new manager for next season, McCall has suggested he is not bothered that Rangers are actively seeking new management and that he probably is not to be given a new deal.

He said:

"I am more than happy at what is going on behind the scenes here. I am kept fully up to speed so it wouldn't affect me in the slightest who is rumoured to be linked to the job or who has knocked it back. My full focus is on getting promotion and I am not bothered by the talk."

McCall has enjoyed a very decent period as Rangers’ manager, with only one loss while his side actively strive for promotion, but he appears to be suggesting he has no issue with not being the front-runner.

He went on:

"When I first came into the job I knew what was asked of me, and being asked of me. It gave me an opportunity but I was always aware that the club would be speaking to other people and rightly so. Bear in mind our board at the moment are new to this as well so I would imagine they will be taking a lot of advice."

McCall also believes if he is to get the job, he will require to be interviewed for it rather than receiving the job on merit, regardless of whether he achieves promotion.

"I would imagine I will have to have a formal interview. I don't think there is any doubt about that and I am fully comfortable with it."

One would imagine underneath he would feel entitled to first refusal on the permanent position if he manages to get these players into the SPL at the first time of asking, but that appears not to be the case.

  1. Manufactured reponse designed to not rock the boat, bit like almost every comment since the new board took over, which in fairness is better than nothing J

  2. This is old news, McCall was brought in on a temporary basis. He has a possible 5 games to go and can make Rangers history as under McCoist and McDowall, we weren't even going to make the play offs the way their results were going, parasites!,, We need a new and fresh coach and management,, we need total football, tactical, strategic, fitness, youth orientated Coaching Staff, We need an outstanding scouting system,, ,,but first things first,,we need to get promoted!!,, which is going to be very difficult, so get behind the team and the board, and hopefully we will come through in the end,, Good Luck lads, we're aye ready!,
