We’re not really sure it matters much but as Ibrox Noise suggested some months ago, John Lundstram only hadn’t/hasn’t signed definitively with Turkish side Trabzonspor for the reason that he was waiting for a potentially better offer, and one has just arrived in the form of the move he actually wanted.
Yes, instead of having to haul ass off to the toxic environment of the Mediterranean Super Lig, Lunny is currently thanking his lucky stars that Premier League new boys Ipswich Town are ready to make him the financial offer he wanted (and more) from Rangers while getting another crack at England’s lucrative top flight.
Indeed, the Tractor Boys are said to be ready to offer to double his money up to £40,000 and secure the deal he wanted all along – a return to the top flight down south.
In truth, we’re not sure exactly how much Lunny wanted to stay at Rangers – he said he did, and the manager claimed the club and he shared a mutual love, but end of the day he wanted a pay rise and a length of contract and that wasn’t happening.
So despite being named in the starting XI for the visit of Killie, Lunny is almost certainly going to take Ipswich’s offer – a chance to play in the Premier League again, for a wage higher than he’s probably ever had – who would say no to that?
Rangers can’t compete with the Premier League, and neither can any club in Turkey – if Town do indeed make this offer to him, he will be off 100% and that’s pretty much that.
But he has to wait for the thing to come in first.
What’s for sure, he’s not staying at Rangers and Philippe Clement is a fool to continue to select players whose hearts aren’t at Ibrox any more.
But hey, he picked Silva and Barisic as well along with Sterling as a winger so shrug emoji
