Signing target Jose Cordoba not only attended Ibrox last weekend for Rangers v Kilmarnock, he’s said to have followed Rangers’ social media channels too, or at least, had, before unfollowing.

The Panamanian international defender, 22, is a major summer negotiation for Rangers, with the £3.5M Levski Sofia stopper entering the last year of his deal this year, and Rangers hoping to secure him for a small fee.

But not only did he show up to take in Rangers’ win over Killie, he’s (temporarily) taken to following the club on social media as well, before apparently undoing it having considered it a bit premature.

Either way, he does look like a serious summer prospect now, and fits into Rangers manager Philippe Clement’s Transfer Model of bringing in young players with massive potential then selling on in the future once we’ve groomed them into a star.

In fairness, Rangers have stunk at this, the only time we managed to sell someone at profit having signed them young was Dundee’s Glen Kamara for £50,000 and sold to Leeds at around £4M – but we’d be looking for bigger numbers than that.

This lad is an international defender and a top-rated defender in Първа професионална футболна лига, or Parva Profesionalna Futbolna Liga which is basically the First Bulgarian League to you and I.

It’s hardly a marquee league in Europe but also isn’t a shocker, being 26th currently (Scotland are 11th) but that’s definitely down in the lower rungs, albeit Finland is far lower and we got Alfredo Morelos from there…

The point is Cordoba is a goer for sure, and the question is what potential does he have and is he good enough for Rangers?

Well it seems Philippe Clement and his team think so, and are closing in on him as a summer switch.

If it gets over the line we hope he’s of the level needed.
