Barisic & Matondo start: predicted Rangers XI v County

Rangers have been hit with a couple of injury blows as Ridvan Yilmaz and Mohamed Diomande are ruled out of tomorrow’s trip to Dingwall, ergo Ibrox Noise takes a look at the likely starting XI which endeavours to restore winning ways to Rangers.

In goal, of course, Butland. Does it even need said?

Defence?

We’d love to see Tavernier and Goldson ‘rested’ but it’s not going to happen, ever. Souttar will partner Goldson we’d imagine. Left back is the puzzle. Sterling, Barisic or Balogun? It’s likely to be Backwards Barisic.

In midfield with Dio’s injury, no Jack and just Lundstram and the out-of-sorts Raskin fit, we’d love to see Sterling restored to his best position.

Will Philippe Clement relent and do it?

Attacking midfield – well, Clement shocked us all (and got it way wrong) when he started Lawrence v Celtic. Unfortunately Cantwell didn’t shine when he got on the pitch either.

Wings… Matondo has earned a start, and we’d even consider giving McCausland the shirt again – it’s nothing but bad options outside of them (Silva, Wright). That said Sima, albeit not a winger, sort of, did have a strong cameo v Celtic.

Striker, got to be Dessers. Or Sima? Roofe might be in contention as well.

So based on who’s available…

Butland; Tavernier, Goldson, Souttar, Barisic; Sterling; Lundstram; Sima, Cantwell, Matondo; Dessers

What fans don’t want to see is Scott Wright in the starting XI, and many don’t want to see much of Tav and Goldson either.

But the latter two are clearly still going to happen no matter what so get real?

The rest of the XI we think isn’t too far from what it SHOULD be tomorrow, but what will Big Phil select?

Lord knows in truth…
