John Lundstram to Trabzonspor is reportedly back on after Turkish sources alleged that the Super Lig side have increased their budget for his signature, following Rangers’ refusal to.

A brief time ago the midfielder’s situation was in limbo after Rangers rejected a new offer to Lundstram based on his wage demands, his having turned down the first offer.

Meanwhile Trabzonspor were baulking at the £33,000pw salary the ex-Sheffield man was seeking and stepped back to consider their options, but have now reportedly returned to the negotiating table and Turkish press allege an ‘agreement in principle’ is in the works with the 31-year-old.

Manager Philippe Clement expressed certainty that Lundstram would sign a new deal, which appeared a trustworthy view given the same man also backed Ross McCausland to extend as well, and he did.

However Lundstram only has barely over four weeks left on his current deal and there’s been no sign of any consensus yet between he and the club, with the manager confirming there had been no further discussions.

That means Lundstram rejected the first offer and Rangers are considering whether or not to go to the demands he’s set out. At the moment, that appears a long way off.

Which has opened the door for Trabzonspor.

Lunny wants to remain at Rangers, his intentions were to play out more years for Rangers, which is the biggest club he will ever play for. But he believes he’s worth more than the £22K he’s currently on, even if recent form has dipped.

And Rangers have no major intention of going to the numbers he wants any time soon.

So as things stand, Trabzonspor are ahead of Rangers in the queue if they can find the budget to support his requirements.

Rangers appear to have made a decision that Lunny is not worth the money.

Unless that changes in the next 5 weeks, he’ll be moving on.
