Absurd Ianis Hagi story ‘confirms’ Romanian to come back to Rangers

Once again a ‘sky is blue’ Rangers story makes headlines as the media becomes once more guilty of ‘stating the bleeding obvious’ for some traffic.

This time it’s Romania’s Ianis Hagi whose agent was sought out to create an absolute nonsense story:

“Ianis’ situation is clear – he returns to Rangers at the end of the season. He is on loan at Alaves, he returns to his team and no, it won’t be Galatasaray. The Turkish media have written for years about Ianis going to Galatasaray. There is no contact and there never has been.”

Like, where do we start with this?

First of all a loan player by the contractual fact of the terms of the loan HAS TO return to their parent club at the end of the deal. It’s the most absurd thing to report that as if it’s news.

No matter where Hagi’s next club may or may not be, contractually and factually he has to come back to Ibrox this summer even if only for one hour to register and check in, or negotiate an exit – he will, and has to, come back!

Secondly, of course there’s been no contact from Galatasaray, or any other club – how can there be, he’s on loan at Alaves and remains under contract through the summer.

The only time there could have been some was in January when it was legal to approach clubs regarding their players for sale – Gala could well have approached during then, but they didn’t.

And this recent story, surfacing through March, is obvious nonsense because Gala can’t approach in March – that’s illegal.

But to claim a ‘story’ that ‘loan player returns to parent club at end of deal’ is up there with the best of an ‘exclusive’ that the sky is blue.

This really is about as nonsense as it gets. Of course, not actual nonsense, it’s true as a story, but it’s like Ibrox Noise breaking to you that Rangers’ manager is Philippe Clement.

In short, for those who like such things, this story is a tautology.

A waste of time.
