Rangers comfortably put away a rather lacklustre Hibs at Ibrox, and with that took a two point lead at the top of the table.

Ibrox Noise brings you our scores for a decent and productive afternoon in Govan:

Butland:

Not a single save to make, barely had to be involved. Rather amusingly voted by Ibrox Noise readers as among our players of the match, but did nothing to deserve it. Beaten a bit easily by Maolida in fact. 6

Tavernier:

This was classic Tav. Breaks the all-time defender scoring record in the UK with a van Basten-esque strike, was weak and hapless when letting Maolida rampage through the defence and missed a penalty. Not a single cross hit its mark but aside the goal he defensively offered a good shift. Maybe time to let someone else take a penalty now and then though? 8

Goldson:

He was the only defender who really threw himself at Maolida, and missed, but aside this was a bit standoffish and didn’t really impose himself. Low-level defending from him but offered good distribution from deep. 6

Souttar:

Big display, even if he was wrecked by Maolida as well, no one else offered half in defence what the Scotland man did, and some of his long balls were great. He is dominating at the back, and has taken over from Goldson as just doing so much more with the ball. 8

Barisic:

Offered a lot of overlapping, and was potent as width, with plenty of crossing and a lot of good crossing at that, but defensively looked like he wasn’t interested in doing any work and was miles away at the goal. Only existed as an attacking threat. 6

Lundstram:

A big dominating display, lots of the ball and few used it as well as him, but we’re used to that from him. Did his usual grafting in the middle as well – this is a guy we sometimes take for granted but we’d miss him bad if he left. 7

Diomande:

Better than the last match, Dio was a lot tidier this time – offered only modest work defensively but his passing was good and he was composed. 7

Silva:

Very subdued display here, looked like he was actually exhausted from his international work, his passing was uninspired and while he didn’t do nothing, it was a bit of a step back here. 6

Wright:

Wasted a golden chance to rip open the net, then got done for encroaching when he actually did rip open the net, Wright is the fans’ favourite scapegoat these days. It’s absolute exasperation when he’s in the XI, and a passing rate of 40% plus just 20 touches told its own story. He continues to be so painfully below Rangers level yet keeps getting appearances. 4

Cantwell:

Bright – he’s looking so much more like his old self, and mercifully the international break didn’t hurt his form momentum. Wonderful assist for Dessers, and in general was a major menace. Stunning 93% passing in his position. Very good afternoon. 9

Dessers:

Continues to be lambasted by a huge and noisy chunk of fans who will never give Mr 23 goals and assists in 43 matches any credit, always complaining about the goals he doesn’t score. There’s no reasoning there – if he scored them all he’d be Harry Kane or Erling Haaland. Another great goal and he’s doing exactly what he needs to. 8

Subs:

Sterling:

Sort of assist for Matondo but we’re not sure how much we can count it, but it was great to see the boy back. Tidy passing and had a good impact. 7

McCausland:

Honestly, barely did a thing of note in the 30 minutes, but just good to see another player fit again. 5

Sima:

He’s back from major injury but it was pretty much the same player as before injury. Tried two passes, one got there, and lost the ball twice. All he ever did of use was score (how terrible, right?), and we can’t see him being any better now. But it’s great to have another body back. 5

Matondo:

Keeps on having massive impact in cameos, this one got a goal of the season contender. Didn’t waste a single pass and was nearly faultless. He’s doing his case for starting a world of good. 8

Lawrence:

Didn’t much of note despite a full half hour. Wasteful with the ball. 5

Manager:

Horrified most fans with his selection, including Barisic, Wright and Dessers, but while it wasn’t a spectacular display it did exactly what he set it out to do – dominate the ball and score more goals than the opposition. Will be horrified with the goal conceded but a win was what mattered, with one eye on the next 8 days, and Clement didn’t really put a foot wrong in this one. 9
