Big Rangers 7-man injury update as Clement shows hand
Rangers manager Philippe Clement had mixed news....

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has given a fuller injury update with regards Oscar Cortes and others as he prepared to face Motherwell this weekend.

Speaking before the side hosts the Steelmen in Govan tomorrow, Clement confirmed the side still is nonethewiser on the Colombian, and awaits the results of a specialist.

He will miss the visit of Fir Park’s finest and it could be longer.

As for others, Kemar Roofe will be in the squad for the match, benched for the possibility of making a difference late on if need be. He is still considerably below match fitness and is, of course, intrinsically unreliable.

Ryan Jack is available, he’s just a case of managing his fitness, and he will be in the squad to take on Well, and there’s been no new setback or issue with the Scotland midfielder, while Tom Lawrence mercifully did not pick up anything on Rugby Park’s horror surface and should be happily in the squad.

Cantwell we know is out for a few weeks so no news there and there’s nothing new on Rabbi Matondo who’s missed the last 3, likewise Kieran Dowell who recovers from surgery.

And the other long-term issues Abdallah Sima and Danilo remain unavailable, although Sima may be closing in a little sooner than feared. Alex Lowry remains out.

So that’s (almost) definitely out:

Oscar Cortes, Todd Cantwell, Rabbi Matondo, Alex Lowry, Kieran Dowell, Abdallah Sima, Danilo.

It’s a lot of players, but then we’ve done pretty well without half the squad half the time, so it’s not really that new.

As we previously explained, Rangers’ full squad is theoretically 34 players in size, including those injured. Remove the above 7 it’s 27. That really should still be enough to keep us going but the injuries are still pretty horrendous.

Pity Cortes is added to the list, but then, Clement only really has himself to blame for that one.

We follow on.
