McCausland & Wright start: predicted Rangers XI to face Killie

It’s the big one, this is the big banana skin, the one of the trio of tough matches that Rangers fans were particularly wary of, as Rangers go to Kilmarnock, and Ibrox Noise will give our shot at predicting the unpredictable.

That’s right, Philippe Clement’s starting XIs are very tough to pin down, such is his rotation, but we will have a plump at it based on what we know.

Obviously, Butland in goals.

Back four is picking itself, we can’t see any variation on Tavernier, Goldson, Souttar and Ridvan, although a big chance is there for Borna in this one.

Midfield may see a change. Diomande is great, but he’s still feeling his way in, and he’s maybe not the most physically tough albeit he’s great in his duels. This might be a risk to put him out there on that pitch. Lunny for sure, but maybe partnered with Sterling? Jack?

Attacking midfield will probably see a recall on the wings for McCausland – a hard worker, he’ll run and the surface won’t faze him, while on the other side we wouldn’t be shocked to see Wright. Another one the manager might be happy to put on that pitch.

Playmaker? Likely to be Lawrence again, because no Cantwell and we just can’t see Dio starting.

Striker will surely be Dessers.

So, Ibrox Noise predicted XI to face Killie:

Butland; Tavernier, Goldson, Souttar, Barisic; Lundstram, Sterling; Wright, Lawrence, McCausland; Dessers.

It’s a long way from our strongest XI but this is one we think Clement will try to preserve key players in, and only use them later if we have to.

We could be a long way from being right.
