All sources think Oscar Cortes is joining Rangers – except one

The Oscar Cortes story is a curious one – Rangers’ interest in the Colombian winger is real and the club hope to seal the transfer before February’s deadline, but while every outlet confirms the player’s arrival is closing in, one man suggested otherwise.

Yes, Rangers Review’s Chris Jack is once again saying something different to everyone else, by claiming there’s interest there but that Rangers haven’t even bid for the kid or lodged any official communication yet.

This is bizarre, not just because that isn’t true, but because Rangers Review are owned by Newsquest, which is the UK’s second-largest media group, which also owns the Glasgow Times and the Herald.

And the Herald today, their sports writer Ewan Paton, completely contradicts Jack.

So two journos from the same company completely at odds with each other.

Jack switched from the Times to Rangers Review a few months ago with a reputation of having connections inside Rangers and being a bit of a propaganda mouthpiece for the club.

But everyone else is contradicting him on this one, every single outlet including fan media like H&H is saying Jack is wrong, and even his own colleague at Newsquest is.

Jack has had many things wrong in the past, usually a nice 404 covers that one.

We are absolutely not attacking him for getting things wrong, we’re guilty too, but in this case even in the case of every other source saying Cortes is coming, Jack says it’s barely 5% complete.

We suppose time will prove him right or wrong, and in this case we definitely hope it’s the latter.
