Hampden Park is set to be crammed full of Rangers fans after a farce move from Aberdeen’s board put their allocation on general sale as wise Gers fans snapped the briefs up.

The calamity from Pittodrie meant anyone with access to payment details could buy any of the Dons’ public sale of their tickets, and after the Dons confirmed their allocation is sold out, it emerged that Rangers fans have very much ‘got in there’ and could well have an entire chunk of the Aberdeen support space to themselves.

It is the latest shambles from a Dons side having a rather bad season, League Cup final participation itself aside, and sees the potential for as many as 30,000+ Rangers fans filling Hampden as Ibrox supporters unofficially hog the designated Aberdeen stands.

In fact, Rangers could fill even more than 30, time will tell and it’s very much on Dons’ chiefs for putting these briefs on general sale rather than to season ticket holders.

This ultimately of course means this match may well be an effective home fixture for Rangers, who will already for sure have a massive following, having been given a stronger allocation than their opponents, but with the mess the Dons have made of their sales procedure here, Rangers could well have nabbed many thousands extra.

We will only know exactly how many of Aberdeen’s allocation Rangers fans half-inched on the 17th of next month as the waves of blue dominate the Mount Florida horizon.

Could be quite the greatest sight that we have ever seen.
