Ibrox Noise received some amusing digs today for omitting Fashion Sakala and Scotty Arfield in our reflection of how a few ex-Gers are doing post-Rangers.

We discussed the flops of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, while noting the middling successes of Antonio Colak and Filip Helander, but we hadn’t intended to cover the Zambian or Canada stars in that piece.

But it is true – both of them are thriving, a bit like Ryan Hardie down south, a bit like Glen Kamara at Leeds, not to mention Ianis Hagi who’s settled into Alaves just fine thank you. Mateusz Zukowski is 7 appearances into life at Śląsk Wrocław and Alex Lowry has been tearing it up at Hearts.

Lewis Mayo might be the best defender in the country at the moment, outside of (and including?) the Old Firm.

It’s safe to say, aside Kent and Morelos, Rangers’ entire alumni has gone onto thrive – not a single one has outright failed, and all of them have been refreshed by the change in their careers away from what can only be called a horribly-run/managed Rangers.

What does this say about our club? We’ll leave that up to you to ascertain.

But there’s no doubt that Rangers are weaker now than they were last season. We have less alpha performers, and we’ve got a coach who seems clueless over what he’s doing. In truth, he seems to be making things up as he goes along.

The one strong player we had, Todd Cantwell, is out potentially for weeks, and while we were able to overcome the lowest side in the league, St Johnstone, without him, we fear our prospects up against a completely different prospect in Real Betis this week.

And we won’t have Scotty, Fashion, Tony Colak or Ianis Hagi to help us.

Whatever we thought of some of these guys last season, there’s no doubt their exits weakened us – nearing October we’re nowhere near looking a smooth-oiled machine.

But remember ‘give them a chance ffs’.
