Dutch sources have tonight claimed rather curiously that Rangers have now ‘close to’ met Feyenoord’s asking price for Danilo, but strangely allege that the ‘nearly’ accepted amount is in fact less than the last bid that they claimed was thrown out.

The last known bid was reported to be around €6.5M which still fell short of the asking price of around €8M, but was attempting to make that up in addons and bonus.

Now “Algemeen Dagblad” (whose integrity we can’t vouch for) claim Rangers have had a €6.5M bid ‘close’ to accepted and it’s led to ‘serious negotiations’ with the Dutch side for the Brazilian forward.

It’s all a bit contradictory at this point.

Rangers had a 3.5M, then 5.2M then 6.5M bid all dumped, and yes, we’ve excluded the currency because at this point we’re no longer sure what currency the sources have been working with.

But now this Dutch outlet, of questionable repute, allege that a €6.5M Euro bid has ‘close’ to been accepted and the negotiations are getting into the final stage.

Even the wording of the report is vague – it’s not been outright accepted, it’s being considered along with serious negotiations to finalise the details.

So yes, this is a strange report for Rangers fans to hear, with Feyenoord now apparently accepting an amount less than was previously reported as rejected.

All very odd!

Either way, we’ll find out if ‘a’ bid has been accepted soon and whether the Brazil man will become Rangers’ next signing in due course.
