If little else is more damning for Rangers this season, it’s not just that the league’s top scorer is a Celtic player, it’s a lot worse than that.

It’s that Hearts, Aberdeen and Motherwell all have top scorers more prolific than anyone in a Rangers shirt, with Rangers’ top scorer not only being James Tavernier but that top scorer being a right back.

Now, there’s a caveat – Celtic also only have that one scorer inside the top 7, Rangers have two, but Kyogo is by far the outstanding performer in this department, and while Colak is there in 7th, his star faded last year and he’s not been allowed to thrive under Michael Beale.

That Aberdeen have two men, TWO men in the top seven, both on 16, both higher than any Rangers player, is a worrying stat showing just how far this Rangers team has sunken.

And what’s worse, Rangers fans frequently smear some of these players as not good enough for our club when every one of them is outperforming the best our club has to offer!

The big one is Aberdeen, they have two men who now have a market value into the many millions. Duk and Miovski could easily earn the Dons a combined £10M. If they could get £5M for Ferguson and £5M for McKenna, why not do it yet again. Rangers, however, don’t have a single player (aside Raskin and Cantwell) we can guarantee selling right now for more than £5M. Kamara and Barisic are about the only two we’d even consider viable in that region for. And probably not in the Croat’s case due to his age.

And it’s such a smear on our club to have so few valuable sellable assets.

In the last 18 months £16M for Patterson, £10M for Aribo and £23M for Bassey (gross). No one now in our squad is easily even half of that.

But it’s that Aberdeen are actually becoming a threat to our club that is even more concerning. They’ve beaten us deservingly, they have two genuine goalscorers who are better than anything we have, and their manager already has a handle on the Scottish Premiership.

This is why Rangers desperately need an overhaul this summer.

As Ibrox Noise’s Ross said it, that we’re relying on our RB as our main goal threat is absolutely ludicrous.

How did it end up in this state?
