Aberdeen’s Luis Lopes will be heavily under the spotlight as the loosely-linked Rangers target, a potential replacement for outgoing Ryan Kent, faces up to Michael Beale’s side for the first time as a full scale ‘player of interest’.

While fellow attacker Miovski is interesting some, it’s the vacancy on the left wing this summer that intrigues Rangers fans the most regarding the Portuguese winger whose stats this season have impressed most onlookers, sitting among the very top scorers in the league as well as a healthy assist level.

Rangers travel to Pittodrie, with Fashion Sakala taking up the left wing position, unlike Ibrox Noise’s more sensible Rabbi Matondo prediction, and he will be directly compared to Duk in terms of like for like.

Duk will come up against defensively-vulnerable James Tavernier, so there will be plenty of chances for the winger on that side with exploits abundant.

In terms of the Portuguese? It’s an audition – if he stands out and has another good match, he may well find himself a serious Rangers target this summer, albeit he’s under contract so it wouldn’t be a Bosman.

It’s also worth remembering the last left winger Rangers signed from Aberdeen went on to be a thoroughly average addition in the form of Scott Wright, who never stood up to truly excel as a Ranger and while never disgracing himself, fell short by quite a distance of being a first-team regular.

He’s been totally out of favour under Michael Beale.

Are Rangers interested in Duk? Let’s see how the former Benfica man does today in the North of Scotland before our club gets serious on him.

If indeed we intend to.
